I spoke in an earlier post about Jacob assuming the identity of different people when he speaks to different people on the Island. While the theory makes sense, it did little to explain whose “eye” we see when Hurley peers through the window.
If you would like to review the moment, watch this this video (”the eye” pops out at :22 seconds in):
If you watch carefully, as the head comes up to the window, it either is hooded, has long hair pulled back, or some kind of hat.

Here is a screen cap of the eye, and Jacobs eye from season 3:
- Is it possible that “the eye” is Charlie? If you remember, when Hugo is being interrogated, he sees Charlie swimming with a hood.
- Is is possible that it is Desmond? Did Desmond actually die in the hatch explosion (without knowing it)? Is that why he can see the future because he is part of The Island now?
- If Desmond or Charlie is in the cabin with Christian, then how many of the Losties are dead? Is that why there was such an emphasis on “Are they still alive?” in episode 4.1? If this is the case, is this why some Losties go with Locke (is Locke dead too), and some go with Jack? Maybe the Oceanic Six are the only ones that survived.
Ok, that is enough. My brain hurts. What do you think about all of this Jacob business? I would love to hear your thoughts.

OK I really like the ideas about dead people showing up, but if that’s true, what about all the other Losties? Anna Lucia, Boone, Eko, Libby, etc.?
[...] This site has a good screen capture of the Eyeball and of Christian Shephard. [...]
It looks to me like Jack’s eye. Has anyone else noticed that every season Jack spends some “alone” time, and we never know where he goes? Usually somebody is looking for him, and he’s off on a hike or some such nonsense.
