This week we had another doozy. There was a lot going on, and we were split between the two camps - Jack’s posse and Locke’s crew. This post will include spoilers if you haven’t seen the episode, so if you live, breathe, and commercial skip via TiVo, follow at your own risk.
There were some killer moments in this episode. For a minute, I thought we might get some answers about smokie, our favorite non-corporal monster, but those writers can be such a tease. I digress.
- First, if you did not call the Oceanic Helpline, you should. The number, 1-888-548-0034, has a very realistic and interesting message. The reality that this television show has tried to create is fantastic.
- Second, if you didn’t catch the literary references they might be useful in further speculation. Sawyer refers to Locke as Kurtz from “The Heart of Darkness.” That is very telling about the path that Locke’s group is headed down. Also, Charlotte Staples Lewis shares initials, middle, and last name with author C.S. Lewis who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia, a story about children who travel through time to a magical land where time passes differently.
- Thirdly, the polar bear was a swift kick in the gut. What was a fully decomposed polar bear doing in Tunisia with a Dharma collar with a Hydra Station stamp on it?
- Fourth, Locke was not in the cabin. He was as shocked as Ben that Hurley knew about it.
- Fifth, the wreckage that is found is faked. The pilot is wrong, and there is too much plane underwater. The pilot and the cabin is on the island. Who staged the crash site?
- Sixth, when Charlotte says “You’ve been here all this time?” How much time is she talking about? It certainly seems like she is talking about longer than 80 days.
- Finally, who the heck does Abaddon (that guy really creeps me out) work for, and why did he send a drunk pilot, empathic physicist, greedy ghosthunter, and know it all anthropologist to track down Ben?
I will digest these ideas more and re-watch the episode a time or two. As I think more, I will post some specific ideas. If you have anything to share or if you can straighten out my brain, sound of in the comments.

Yeah, the polar bear was really out there. That scene alone made my head hurt. I liked the episode, but too many new people too fast almost….
Another doozy? Are you insane?
Kristen, Why did you not like it?
