If you haven’t seen episode 4.06, “The Other Woman,†stop now. This will contain spoilers. If you have seen it, then join in on the discussion.
Now, as far as the comments and review’, in my opinion, there weren’t as many giant zingers in this episode as there were in “The Constant,†but there where a few things worth discussing.
Who or what was Harper? Harper Stanhope, the island’s favorite only psychologist, certainly had an interesting personality. Not only was she bitter and mean, but at least she could hold a grudge. Her relationship with Juliet was understandingly strained, but what does all of that mean when she appears in the jungle? Or, did she even appear in the jungle. If you remember, her appearance was surrounded by the whispers. Her sudden dissapearance was met with whispers also. These same whispers met Eko’s brother, and Kate’s horse.
Was the Harper really in the jungle or was that the Island? Some might be tempted to say that it was Jacob, but I don’t think so. Her appearance seems more in line with Reme or Christian Shephards. I think it was the Island, or possibly the smoke monster showing up to the party.
Ben is right where he wants to be. Make no mistake, Benjamin Linus was in rare form this episode. The way he twisted poor Locke to his will, tortured Juliet with Goodwin’s death, and then shouted “You’re Mine!†definitely exposed a the depth of his darkness.
Whose side is he on? Or, at this point, is he really only looking out for himself? I really think The Others have abandoned him. I know the Island is interested in Locke, and the Freighter Four are definitely out to get him. I think he is in self-presevation mode at this point. My question is, can he really control time? If so, did he warp back just to get the Widmore video for that moment for Locke?
Here is a thought. Remember Annie, the little girl that liked Ben? What if Ben can travel through time with a certain level of control? I think something tragic happened to Annie, and Ben might be trying to unravel time to fix it. Every thing he undo’s causes something new to go wrong. He is only looking out for himself.
The boat is Widmore’s but is Widmore bad? Can Ben be believed when it comes to Widmore? There is no doubt he is a jerk, and there is no doubt he is powerful, but does that mean he is as evil as Ben says. At this point, Ben is definitely unreliable. What does a fantasticlly rich man have to gain by finding the island? Unless Ben is hiding something BIG, I don’t understand Widmore’s intentions.
The Freighter Four seem like a mixed bag as well. Daniel and Frank certainly seem like honestly good people. Miles is insignificant at this point. Charrolette is certainly the one to watch out for. The way her character can lie, the way she draws a gun, and the way she fights all lead me to belive she is certainly not an archaeologist. I think there is something big to her, and I hope we get it by the end of this season.
The Man on the boat is definitely probably Michael. I don’t think there is any question about that, but we shall see next week.
With only two more episodes before the mid-season hiatus, there is still much to unpack. Any thoughts on this stuff? Anything more to add? I would love to hear it.

What is just me, or Harper said something about Juliet “look like her” when it comes to Ben? Or was it Goodwin who said that? Anyway, that probably means that Juliet looks like Annie, and that is why he likes her.
hi, the time travel means all bets are off. For example Jack saying ‘we have to go back’ in the flash forward at the end of season 3, could that have meant we have to go back in time and correct a wrong or we have to go back to the island? Or how about this: How about somehow some went back to before the crash and altered the flight path of Oceanic 815. And, they went nowhere near the island and the magnetic issue that caused the crash and this time a new problem came up and they crashed and they all did die as we saw when we were introduced to the freighter 4. As I said Time Travel means all bets are off because we can’t be sure what we have seen is real or somebody time traveling in their mind. Confused? me too.
I thought it was pretty funny when Ben yelled “you’re mine” and ran up that little hillside. Seriously looked like he was 5 years old….
Agreed - Ben is certainly brilliantly messed up. As a writer, I can only imagine how fun he is to author for.
