The Redsox Video, Ben, and Time Travel

In episode 4.06, “The Other Woman,” special attention was paid to the video tape that Ben has hidden in the safe.  This, of course, is the same video tape that Ben has the Redsox game that is shown to Jack in season 3.

If you think carefully about the timeline, there is very little time between when Jack sees the game, the sub blows up, the Others start migrating to the temple, and all hell breaks loose.  What does this mean?

I think it supports Ben’s time tweaking abilities.  I (and I am assuming here) believe there was just too little time and opportunity for Ben to secure a video feed from someone off the island.  The only exception would be if Ben has some previously undiscovered form of transportation or communication. I don’t believe that is the case however.  I firmly believe Ben can time-shift at will.

I also believe that it is that abuse of the Island’s power that has the Island so upset with Ben.  That is why Locke is being courted, and why the Island (Harper, Jacob, etc) is acting without regard to Ben and is interfacing with people more directly.

Before the end of this season, I want to have this one answered. What about you?
