Here are the ratings numbers for this season of lost so far:
The Beginning of the End” — 16.07 million
“Confirmed Dead” — 15.06 million
“The Economist” — 13.62 million
“Eggtown” — 13.53 million
“The Constant” — 12.9 million
“The Other Woman” — 13.0 million
Do you notice anything? Yes, they are sliding, but what is causing it? Personally, I feel this season has offered outstanding action, captivating action, and intriguing mysteries. I shudder to think that the show is to blame. Lost is up against American Idol, and I don’t see those two audiences overlapping much, but I could be wrong. So what is going on?
Personally, I think Lost is so good that the ratings are sliding. Let me explain, Nielson Ratings do not include online purchases through iTunes or TiVo recordings. I for one would not dare to watch Lost without my TiVo. There is simply to much to miss without a rewind and a pause button. If I didn’t download Lost or save it on my DVR, it would be impossible to watch.
Like most of my theories on this site, this one is pure speculation. I do know this, I am not included in the 13 Million people who viewed “The Other Woman”, but I have seen it three times. How about you? What do you think is behind the ratings slide?

It is a system in an extreme need of an update.
Lost’s ratings are sliding (as is the ratings with most shows) because people are finding new ways to view the show other than watching it live. Be it on the internet or DVR’s….etc….etc…..
Look at the top 20 list. The shows at the bottom of the list are only getting 8 million viewers. That should tell you all you need to know.
