In episode 4.08, “Meet Kevin Johnson,” Tom, our favorite gay happy islander, makes a visit to Michael in Manhattan. I have been trying to figure out just how and when all of this takes place in the Lost Time Continuum.
Here is what I have been able to put together, and I am still confused.
On day 67 (November 27, 2004):
-Jack and Company are captured and Walt and Michael leave on compass heading 325 for rescue.
Day 67-Day 74:
-Tom plays a major part in the interogation of Jack, Kate and Sawyer at the Hydra Station. Ben has his surgery and Tom is present for the operation.
Day 80-Day 81:
-Tom is playing football with Jack.
-Tom and the Others head off to the temple.
Day 87:
-The freighter four are nearby, and Naomi lands on the island.
What does this mean? Somehow Tom is able to get off the island without the sub, and get Michael to hop on the freighter in a matter of days - two weeks to be exact. I don’t know how Tom would have time to do that in the few days at Hydra station after the surgery and before the football game.
Also, this means that Michael did some amazing things in just two weeks. He made it to rescue, snuck back into the US, made it to Manhattan, and delivered Walt to Grandma. He also broke down, crashed the car on the pier, healed and made it Fiji. Impressive. that would be the worst two weeks ever.
The writers need to have a strong explanation dealing with the time continuum, displacement, and paradoxes. Either that or they screwed up. I am so confused.
Comments
Well said. Just like on “the Economist” where Sayid went TO the barracks and BACK to the helicopter in just a few hours, while the barracks are about 1-1.5 DAYS away from their positions (we know that because Juliet said on that episode that she can go to the beach in a matter of two hours).
I feel cheated by the writers on these occasions.
Tom is DEAD. He was shot in the raid on the beach.
Correct, Tom is dead, but the time line outlined above takes place before Naomi lands on the beach, and therefore before Tom is killed.
