Lost Time Traveling Theories - A work in Progress.

This post is going to seem a bit scattered; I apologize in advance.  It is a time travel theory, and I happen to be the definitive know-nothing on the subject, so please be kind and if you can flesh out the theory any more - feel free to help.

What if…

The island is in a different time - it is kind of without time in the traditional sense.  Almost as if it is sitting on the precipice of a black hole. It is possible that it is even moving through time.

Depending on your trajectory when you enter the island, it will place you in different places in time - but not fully.  Like Desmond, your soul or consciousness travels, and because the mind is stronger than the body, it forces the body to catch up or adjust.  When the island crashed, they entered the island years in the past.  They entered at a time when:

  • Locke could still walk
  • Rose did not have cancer
  • Christian Shepherd wasn’t dead.
  • All kind of stuff is weird

Their bodies are forced in line with the mind.  It causes a bit of stress, but it makes for some remarkable healing.

To back this up, did you notice that when the doctor washed ashore, he had a cut on his face with stitches as well as a slit throat. On the freighter, he simply had a scar on his cheek where the stitches are in the (past/future).  Because of the trajectory of the doctor’s entry, he beached at the time his face wound was fresh.

Oh no!  My head hurts again.  I am tired of these Lost induced headaches.

    lostfan-i def. think you are onto something! in my attempts to further understand what is going on, i searched the internet and stumbled upon a website that offers a very interesting,very solid theory-along the same lines as the time travel theory that you mentioned.

    i am not sure whether or not i am allowed to list the webiste on here. i will wait to hear from you on that. maybe you or some others would like to check it out. the theory is pretty in depth. some on the website commented that it is a bit too complicated for the average viewer. but i feel if you are like me, and follow the show each week to the best of your ability, you can grasp it. i hope i am not being inappropriate by suggesting you take a look at it. I mean no offense.
