Like sands randomly and haphazardly bumping around in an hourglass, these are the days of Lost.
Episode 4.11, “Cabin Fever” is a doozy. I don’t begin to know or even understand what it is that I witnessed, but I do know that there was much to enjoy from this episode. From a fan’s perspective, there was so much revealed in this episode, and from a writer’s perspective, there were some brilliant, dare I say beautiful moments.
Let’s get started, shall we? By the way, if you haven’t watched the episode. Don’t read along.
The Birth of Locke - So, life has always been tragic for Locke. He has always faced trials and tribulations. Locke has never had a really good day. That would explain a few things.
It was great to see Richard at the hospital. The question is, is Richard ageless, or is he traveling at will like Ben does? Personally, I think can’t make up my mind; there is a good argument to be made on either side of that coin. Whether he is ancient or just visiting, he certainly wanted Locke. The ceremony where he was to choose his items was very similar to the process Buddhists use to choose their Lama’s. This would imply that Richard was looking for a reincarnation type of event.
Who is Abbadon - Who the heck is Michael Abbadon? I had the sense that Richard and Abbadon where not on the same team. Also, when Abbadon was interviewing Naomi, it was implied he was working for Whidmore. If this is true, what are the implications of this fact?
When Abbadon had Locke at the top of the stairs, was he tempted or threatening to kill him? He had asked Locke about belief in himself - had Locke had faith at that moment, would Abbadon had killed him for Whidmore. If Abbadon really is bad, does that mean Locke will turn out betraying the island? That might explain why in the future, it is Ben confronting Whidmore and not Locke. I hate to say it, but I think Ben is the hero by the end of the story in season 6, not Locke.
Claire is dead too? - I called it a long time ago that Christian was in the cabin, and If you saw the interview from Attack of the Show, the producers admit that Christian is dead. Does that mean that Claire died in the rocket attack at Otherville? Did the island keep her alive until Christian could pick her up? Is that why Miles was so interested in her? Creepy. Who else on the island is currently dead.
What’s Up Doc? - The doctor washes up last week and dies this week. YES, there is a time delay. Yes, I have no idea how much time is lost or if the time loss is even constant. Faraday is going to have to have this one answered before the end of the season on May 23rd and 29th (remember the bonus finale).
Keamy is nuts Michael is Lucky - So, the island isn’t done with Michael yet. I wonder what he has in store for him. Also, Keamy is not done with the island. I have a feeling he is going to die - spectacularly.
Move the island - Typically, things can move in three dimensions or on a three-way axis. We have already established that things in Lost are a bit loose with the fourth dimension - time. Does Jacob want to move the island in a 3D sense for a 4D sense. I am voting for moving it in time.
The Odd Couple - Ben and Hurley sharing candy - genius. That moment truly demonstrates the journey Ben has been on. From “baddy” to “just another Joe in a crappy situation.”

yes, i also believe ben has changed. i think he is just trying to cope with everything the best he can along with the rest of our losties. clearly, he is not the one everyone should be worried about at this point.
i also didn’t really understand a lot from this episode, but it was one of the best in my opinion. it certainly left me in awe! the biggest stand out for me, was when richard alpert visited locke. obviously he was “testing” him for whatever reason. i seem to recall him asking, “which one of these are yours?” and then john picked up the compass and sand i believe? and then richard said, “no john, which ones do you ALREADY have?” and then john picked up the knife. then richard got all pissed and ran out. i could be wrong, so don’t quote me. but does this maybe suggest that locke has already time traveled too? because the items he chose were the items he has on the island. I don’t know…i wish i tivo’d this episode so i could watch it again. there were so many details.
I do NOT think Locke has time traveled. And it is still up for debate whether anyone has, but I would say that Ben has, and so has Alpert and possibly Abaddon? So much was revealed but none of those things were TOTALLY revealed it seemed.
Locke is obviously the chosen leader of the Others, but I also wonder who was the leader before Ben. He eluded to it when talking to Locke, saying something like he was not always the leader.
I also do not buy Ben being just a regular guy. I think he is way too devious and still has the rivalry with Widmore going…
